about us
Doug Vincent was born on August 23, 1955, into a world without a polio vaccine. In 1956, at just one year old, he contracted polio. Doctors didn’t offer much hope—he was expected never to walk and to remain in leg braces for life. But Doug had other plans. He defied expectations, learning to navigate the world on his terms. After numerous surgeries—some to stabilize joints, others to move or fuse muscles—he went on to live an active and fulfilling childhood and adolescence.
Though not the most outgoing, Doug wasn’t shy—he just wasn’t always the first to speak. After high school and some college courses, he discovered his passion for broadcasting through the KiiS Broadcasting Workshop. Stepping out of his comfort zone, he attended an audition, and after just three hours of orientation and a recorded session, he knew he had found his calling. That night changed the course of his life. Since 1977, Doug has worked both on the air and behind the scenes in radio. Doug’s commitment to service is just as strong as his passion for broadcasting. A dedicated member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Rancho Cucamonga, he was honored with the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation Dunlap Fellowship Award in 2011 for outstanding community service. Under his leadership as president, the club earned the Distinguished Club Award, and he has twice been named "Kiwanian of the Year." Doug has also organized several car shows, raising funds for local service projects. His involvement in the Inland Empire Car Club Council has connected him with numerous car clubs, helping to raise money for causes ranging from cancer research to veteran support. Doug’s impact extends even further—he serves on the boards of Anthesis, Rolling Start, and the Volunteers for Veterans Foundation. He is also a member of the Physically Disabled Access Appeals Board for San Bernardino County. In 2006, he joined PossAbilities, participating in their annual triathlon, handcycling events, and advocating for those with disabilities. His dedication earned him a place on Loma Linda University Health’s Wall of Heroes, and he continues to emcee events and support his community with an unwavering spirit of generosity. Today, Doug’s passion lies in Walk and Roll Live, a podcast dedicated to amplifying voices from the disability community. Through compelling interviews and real-life stories, Walk and Roll Live shines a light on the challenges, triumphs, and experiences of those living with disabilities. With his signature warmth, humor, and deep understanding, Doug creates a space where guests can share their journeys, fostering awareness, inclusion, and empowerment. Doug’s life is a testament to resilience, passion, and the power of pushing past limitations. Whether through broadcasting, advocacy, or community service, he remains committed to making a difference. |
Addie Rich is your co-host of "Walk and Roll Live," a podcast where disability meets creativity and real-life conversations happen. Born in 1979 several months premature and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Addie's journey has been one of determination and joy from the very beginning.
Growing up as one of the few mainstreamed kids in "normal" classes, Addie sometimes felt like she stuck out, but was blessed with amazing friends and family who supported her every step of the way. At just 4 years old, she became the March of Dimes poster child, where she first met Doug – who, thanks to the joy of the interwebs and her nosey self would eventually reunite with her just last year– when he hosted her birthday party at a car wash. In 1991, Addie made medical history as one of the first Dorsal Rhizotomy patients at UCI, where she had to relearn to walk and regain motor function through intensive physical therapy, supported by a tremendous best friend who literally and figuratively pushed her through workouts. Addie's academic journey led her to an undergraduate degree in English, followed by teaching Language Arts to middle schoolers through Teach for America – which moved her to Georgia, despite the fact that she had never left California before. In the same fashion as many of the earlier parts of her life, she took a leap of faith and moved to Georgia in hopes that this opportunity to teach would allow her to touch the lives of the students that she met. Little did she know how stretched she would be in this experience as well. She later earned a Master's in Forensic Psychology before finding her way to her current career in accounting and business management. Though seemingly different from her earlier professional path, Addie sees the common thread: "At the root of it all is the business of people and improving their lives and livelihood." When not interviewing fascinating guests from all walks of life, this (now) transplanted belle can be found tending to her plants, adventuring with her husband, writing, cooking, crafting, or spending time with her three beloved dogs. Through her other passion project, The Plot Twist Society, she creates spaces where people can take a knee from Universal body slams and sort and steady themselves. It is really important to her to give people life skills to take them from their “seat” to their feet. Addie's favorite part of both her podcast and professional life? "Seeing people blossom into who the Universe meant them to be!" Through authentic conversations on "Walk and Roll Live," she's helping reimagine what disability means while showcasing the brilliance and light people bring to the world. |
